About the Art

The White Tara is worshipped as the mother of all Buddha’s and as an embodiment of the material aspects of compassion. She is generally adorned with seven eyes, and therefore, also referred as Saptalochani Tara, or seven-eyed Tara. Her meditational practices are mainly employed to confer long-life, alleviate illness (physical and mental), and to remove obstacles that indicate of untimely death. She is worshipped as the main deity of longevity, together with Amitayus and Ushnishavijaya.
