About the Art

Bhairava is considered as one of the distinctive tantric form of Shiva. He is usually depicted in nude, black or dark blue color. He has big terrifying eyes. The hands hold a Karti (weapon) and a skull cup. The bhairava is usually stepping over a recumbent figure, wearing a garland of skulls. The crown he wears also has skulls in it.
