Born in Janakpur, a region with ancient temples of Ram and Sita, the artist spent his childhood in these temples, listening to ancient stories and painting Mithila walls. His first visit to Janakpur, where he saw marble statues of Ram and Sita, greatly influenced his art. His work depicts Ram’s marriage to Sita and her journey back to Ayodhya, using elephants and fish to cross the Ganga River. His work is influenced by oral stories about the Ramayan.
