About the Art

Garuda, in Hindu and Buddhist mythology, is a legendary bird and the mount of Lord Vishnu. Often depicted as a magnificent creature with the body of a human and the wings, beak, and talons of an eagle, Garuda symbolizes strength, speed, and devotion. Revered for his loyalty and unwavering dedication to Vishnu, Garuda is a prominent figure in ancient scriptures and folklore. He is believed to possess immense power and is revered as the sworn enemy of serpents, particularly the Naga, representing the triumph of good over evil. Garuda’s image adorns temples, coins, and religious iconography across Southeast Asia, signifying protection, courage, and the unyielding pursuit of righteousness.
