About the Art

The image perfectly depicts Janakpur, the birthplace of Goddess Sita, Lord Rama’s wife, and the location of the well-known Janaki Temple, a sacred location for Hindus. The girl portrayed is a flower vendor, and she is seated close to the shrine gate. She is notable for sporting a tiny nose ring, which is a typical accessory for the women in the neighborhood.
