When she first moved to Nepal in 1995, she was fascinated by the various methods of worship that were present. The morning prayers and the daily worship of Kumari outside the house’s main entrance were all different from what she had experienced in India.
She was amazed to see the worship of Kumari, who was revered as a living goddess. What made her sad was that she was unable to understand the history behind many of the rituals present there. It was during Indra Jatra that she felt most overwhelmed by the rituals, feeling as if she had been in the presence of gods. She, who had never portrayed gods in her works, started sketching about Navadurgas, just as she used to in her childhood.
