About the Art

In his journey to becoming the enlightened one, Prince Siddhartha Gautama left his home and all his loved ones. He went to the banks of the Anoma river along with Channa (Charioteer) and Kanthaka (Horse). He cut all his hair and established a Chaitya before he left. Indra Dev from Devlok appeared and collected his hair. It is believed that Indra established Chunda Mani Chaitya in the Devlok with the hair he collected.
