Singhanath or Singhanada means “lion’s roar”. This name applies to the Sakyamuni Buddha as well as the Bodhisattva Manjushri. The Bahan or vehicle of Manjushri is a lion, which is clear in this painting. This form of Manjushri Boddhisatva is very commonly kept in the main entrance of the monasteries (Baha and Bahi). Singhanada is also counted in 108 Lokesvara.
