About the Art

Saptalochani, meaning “seven-eyed one,” is the name given to White Tara, a goddess of maternal compassion. She has three eyes on her face, palms, and feet, symbolizing purity, compassion, loving-kindness, joy, and serenity. Born from Avalokiteshvara’s tears, White Tara is known for her ability to provide long life blessings and her white complexion, representing the absence of warring emotions and dualistic knowledge.
