Born in 1953, Shrestha completed Intermediate in Fine Arts from Lalit Kala Maha Vidhyalaya, Bhotahity, Kathmandu in 1971. He had participated in various art exhibitions and festivals namely Ghale Gaon Art Festival (2002), International Art Exhibition, the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty King Birendra’s accession to the throne, the Civic Main Committee, Kathmandu, Nepal (1992),1st South Asian Festival of SAARC Countries – New Delhi (1992), Biennale – Bangladesh (1990-98), Triennale – India (1981), Two-men Painting Show – Kathmandu (1971) and National Art Exhibition, organized by National Association of Fine Arts (NAFA) (1970).
He has acted as Member of Selection Committee of Maqquitte Competition for life size statue of Araniko, Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (2013), and been Member of Jury Panel of: National Exhibition, NAFA (2003), Children's Painting Competition, Nepal-Israel Friendship Association (1995), Drawing and Painting Competition, Inter School Activities Forum (1993), Sculptures on the life of Lord Buddha, commissioned by Young Artists' Group (YAG) and Swayambhu Bikash Mandal (1974), Models of ethnic groups of Nepal for the exhibition organized by National Museum, for the Coronation of King Birendra (1973).
He is also member of Nepal Association of Fine Arts (NAFA), Founder Member of Young Artist Group (YAG) 1972, Treasurer of YAG (1982-92), Member of Nepal Kalakar Samaj, Founder Member of Sirjana Contemporary Art Gallery and Founder Member of Sirjana College of Fine Arts. Currently he is Member of Board of Directors of Sirjana College of Fine Arts, Kathmandu and is a visiting faculty in Sirjana College of Fine Arts, Kathmandu.
