About

Born in 1937, Nepali received his Diploma in painting from the College of Arts and Craft Lucknow, India and also completed a special course on mural painting at the same college. There are 25 solo exhibitions since 1962 till date with a retrospective solo exhibition on 2004, being his 26th. 

 

His selected exhibitions are: 'Himalayan Expression' organized by Siddhartha Art Gallery at the Habiart Gallery New Delhi 2003, 'Made in Janakpur - A Mithila Yatra' Art Camp Organized by Siddhartha Art Gallery 2002, Contemporary Nepali Painting Exhibition at Birla Academy Calcutta 1993, Bangladesh Biennale at Dhaka 1981 and 1988, Nepali Painting Exhibition at Maneka Art Gallery Sydney 1985, Asian Art Show organized on the occasion of Asian Games, Seoul 1985, Asian Art show, Fukuoka 1980 and 1985, India Triennial New Delhi 1971 and 1981, India Triennial New Delhi 1978, Nepal Painting Exhibition, Museum of Oriental Art Moscow 1975, Expo-Japan, Osaka 1970. 

 

He is the recipient of Rastriya Prativa Purashkar from Ministry of Culture-Tourism and Civil Aviation HMG 1970, First Prize in National Art Exhibition organized by Nepal Association of Fine Arts (NAFA) 1974. A Member of Royal Nepal Academy 1995-99, Member of Subject Committee, Painting and Sculpture-T.U. 1984-93, Founder President of Artist's Society of Nepal 1984-90, Member and Board of advisers of Nepal Association of Fine Arts (NAFA) 1978-80, and Life member of Royal Nepal Academy.
