About the Art

Manjushree is a Bodhisattva in Mahayana Buddhism, symbolizing wisdom, intelligence, and learning. As a Bodhisattva, Manjushree has chosen to postpone personal Buddhahood to assist all sentient beings in achieving
enlightenment. Depicted wielding a sword, the symbol of cutting through ignorance, and holding a scripture or book, representing wisdom, Manjushree is portrayed here in dharmachakra mudra.

The term “Dharmachakra” refers to the Dharma wheel, a significant symbol in Buddhism. This wheel represents the cycle of birth, life, death, and rebirth (samsara), as well as the path to enlightenment (dharma).
