About the Art

Hanuman, the monkey god, is revered as a symbol of unwavering devotion, strength, courage, and selfless service. His devotion to Lord Rama is a key aspect of his worship.

In Nepal, Hanuman is considered a powerful guardian deity, often seen at temple entrances or palaces, protecting from evil spirits and misfortunes. Many temples across Nepal are dedicated to Hanuman, such as the Hanuman Temple in Kathmandu and the Sankata Temple, where devotees seek protection and blessings. One noteable statue of Hanuman is present at the roof of the Patan Durbar in the main entrance playing the role of guardain.
